Charlotte has been working with the Roundhouse's Circus, Spoken Word and Audio collectives to create a 10 minute piece A Thousand Fibres. The Collectives are advanced training programmes for young artists, offering opportunities to learn specialist skills with industry professionals and guest companies. It was the first time these different groups had collaborated to make work and the show blended circus, poetry and sound to create a piece of visual storytelling. It was performed for three nights in April to 1000s on the main stage of the Roundhouse as a preshow performance before the stunning Companie XY's It is not yet midnight...
Fittingly for a piece of cross art form collaboration A Thousand Fibres was a reflection on how we are bound together, how no can truly stand apart. The title was taken from the Herman Melville quote :
“We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand fibres connect us with our fellow men; and among those fibres, as sympathetic threads, our actions run as causes, and come back to us as effects.”
Tina and our producer Ali went to Canvas Circus Showcase. We shared many great conversations, a couple of heated discussions and a lot of laughs. What a lovely a chance to catch-up with circus friends far and wide.
Tina and Charlotte had a fun day harness flying and puppeteering in a flying rehearsal for national theatres upcoming production of Pinocchio.
