SATYAGRAHA
We performed with Improbable as part of the skills ensemble in Phillipp Glass’ Satyagraha the second in the composer’s landmark trilogy of ‘portrait’ operas about men who changed the world. This new production based on Mahatma Gandhi’s early years in South Africa, explores how the spiritual and political leader developed non-violent protest into a powerful force for change.

Satyagraha was first performed at the ENO on 1st May 2007. The production was remounted at The Metropolitan Opera, New York in April / May 2008, in March 2010 at the ENO and again November/December 2011 at the The Metropolitan Opera, New York. The performance on 12 NOV was broadcast live on HD in cinemas all over the world.

SOMETHING IN THE AIR
Commissioned by Manchester International Festival in 2009 Ockham’s Razor and Oily Cart co-devised ‘Something in the Air’, a piece of interactive physical theatre, specifically created for young people with profound and multiple learning disabilities or an autistic spectrum disorder.
For each show an audience of six young people and six carers are seated in specially created ‘nest’ chairs and raised into the air to fly in safety and comfort with the Ockham’s Razor aerialists in a unique kinaesthetic adventure featuring live music.

HANG ON
In spring 2009 we premiered a new production at The Lyric, Hammersmith in London. It was a family show we developed under the direction of Theatre Rites co-produced with Lyric, Hammermsith in association with Theatre Royal/York. The production featured six performers, Charlotte, Tina and Alex as well as musician Nao Masuda, juggler Stefano Di Renzo and actor Eric Mc Lennan.
